Meet the Team

Peak Life Adventures is backed by the Peaks Coaching Group, Lifecycle Adventures and Single Track New Zealand.  The owners of these companies take a personal interest the team’s success – which means your success.

Tony, Hunter and Carl are a rare combination of expertise in adventure travel, world class coaching and rock-solid guiding.  They founded Peak Life Adventures to share a passion for adventure racing and training.  They also enjoy the camaraderie of celebrating as a team in some of the world's most exotic locations and in some of the world's nicest hotels!

Tony Blakey

As a boy, Tony caught the cycling bug riding near his childhood home in the English Yorkshire Dales.  In 2000, Tony moved from England to San Francisco where he founded LifeCycle Adventures - a company specializing in bike tours of the California Wine Country.

Tony has organized and led cycling tours in Cuba, France, Italy, Spain, Morocco and Vietnam. As an avid adventurer, Tony has visited over fifty countries across six continents – both cycling and climbing.

In his previous career, Tony was a partner at in the firm of Accenture, specializing in the area of Leadership and Human Performance.

Tony has toured in Costa Rica many times – but perhaps his best experience there was completing La Ruta in 2006.  You can read about his exploits in a recently published article in Bike Magic.

  Hunter Allen

After a successful career as a pro-racer, Hunter Allen founded The Peaks Coaching Group. Hunter now coaches Jeremiah Bishop (5th place in La Ruta 2005) and Hillary Harrison (2003 Women's Winner).

Hunter is a 2-time finisher of La Ruta as well as the author of Training and Racing with a Power Meter.

Carl Patton

As a former New Zealand representative in Cross Country mountain biking, Carl Patton has competed in the World Championships and the NORBA Series.

Carl now shares his experience guiding groups in Colorado, Utah and New Zealand. Carl is a regular contributor to several MTB magazines and websites – including articles on La Ruta.
