To conquer the challenges
of La Ruta, you’ll want the best in Coaching and you are going to have to train hard.
To get you started, you’ll have a one on one phone consult with a coach from Peak Coaching Group
to assess your current fitness level. You’ll receive a detailed initial packet that you’ll fill out in order for
your coach to better design your training plan. Based on the assessment, your coach will create a preparation plan that:
has a training program for reaching your target fitness in the time available
, bases your training on Heart Rate
or Wattage Training zones in order to maximize your time, addresses other targets such as nutrition, weight loss and injury avoidance, -
works around any constraints you may have such as business trips or vacations, addresses any skills development needs, such as bike handling techniques.
Your coach will work with you with a call
once a month to adjust your regime, answer questions and encourage and motivate you to reach your targets.

We recommend a the Silver level for those looking to
significantly raise their endurance and strength for the event.

There will be two training camps in preparation for La Ruta. Depending on the location
of the team members, we are planning on holding one camp in Virginia and a 2nd on the West Coast.
Dates for 2007 to be confirmed but the first
camp is likely to be in August and the second in early October. The first camp will test your fitness against climbs similar to those in La Ruta. This will both improve your fitness and allow us to fine tune your training program. This will also be your opportunity to meet our other team members.
You will be fully supported at the camp with coaches riding with you, rest stops along the way and also you’ll get to ride some of the best trails in Virginia, which is home to some of the finest Mt. Biking in the world. And we mean MOUNTAIN biking…..
We’ll have massage therapists after each day, along with providing you with dinner. (You get lunch on the bike!)
This will be a great chance for you to test out your systems and make sure your bike, pack, and nutritional strategy is sound.
The 2nd camp might as well be called, La Ruta
USA! The second camp is designed to be just as tough as La Ruta itself – with three days of consecutive riding. This will help you prepare mentally for the best race of your life.
There will be just as much climbing as in La Ruta, and we promise to throw in a solid 2 hours hike- a-bike section to prep you for the dreaded first day in La Ruta.
Again, you’ll be fully supported and we’ll take care of you from dawn to dark.
The timing of this camp is key to your development and training, so make sure that you plan on attending this one! -
